Jobs

According to a report by the Center for Agricultural Business at California State University, Fresno, California farms and associated processing account for 6.8 percent of the state’s 18.9 million jobs. The report lists a variety of jobs that are directly or indirectly tied to farm production that help keep people employed 12 months of the year. Jobs from trucking to food and fiber processing to banking, equipment manufacturing and sales all relate to the farms that grow our food. In total, on-farm and farm-related activities add up to more than 1.2 million jobs.

Agriculture’s influence on California’s economy doesn’t stop at the edge of the field. From farm to fork, California agriculture provides the jobs that helps keep the economy strong.
